A/S Rosshavets Hvb “Star III”. Bygget outpost boat (patruljebåt) after hvalbåtdesign at Nyland Workshop, Oslo (362). Originally commissioned by Whaler-A / S Ross Sea (Rasmussen, Konow, Moe), Sandefjord. Building Contract requisitioned by the German occupation-power (Admiral Norway) as VARANGER (V.5905).

Hvb "Star VI" ex "Alex Lange" (1923)

HVB “Star VI” on an expedition in the Ross Sea sometime after 1925. Båten the “Alex Long” 1923-1925. Propeller Replacing the ice was a complicated and not harmless operation, but the alternative was to send whale boat to Australia or South Africa for docking and it would mean several weeks or perhaps months out of the catch.
